Thank you for all of your time you have given to us for conferences so far! We are almost done, so if you have not had a conference yet, we are almost to you and are looking forward to meeting with you! Also, thank you for all of the goodies that made our celebrations at school amazing today! We are scheduling Great American Teach-In for Nov 16th and still have lots of room for parent volunteers! If you are interested in speaking to our class(es), please let us know your availability. Also, please consider staying and speaking with multiple grade levels or even just one more class. Students LOVE this day a lot and really enjoy a variety of speakers. Thank you so much! Details for the 3rd grade basket: For this year’s Fall Festival each grade is putting together a basket to be auctioned off. This will all be done by parent volunteers. Below is the SignUpGenius. Teachers will collect the Lego’s as they come in. They will be picked up from us on November 2nd, so that the basket can be put together. I am so proud of their perseverance. This week in ELA we will begin Unit 2 - Module C. The students will be reading folktales, fables, and other stories We will be learning and practicing finding the central message/lesson or moral and explaining how we know through key details. In writing we will begin learning how to write opinion essays. For homework the students will have 2 reading logs, social studies, and spelling activities This week in Math: In math we will continue discussing area (squares, rectangles, irregular shapes, & triangles-lessons) as well as bar graphs, pictographs, and solving problems using information from graphs. We will review all old material, and we will take a test on Thursday. Please continue practicing multiplication facts at home and consider things like multiplication.com as an additional resource. The Tenmarks assignment due by Friday is: Find Area of Squares and Rectangles with Unit Squares. No homework on Monday! Happy Halloween! Quiz next Friday. I have found an online edition of the textbook. It does not match up exactly regarding page numbers but the information is the same!
